September 16 Netflix announced it has ordered two seasons of a new series called Love, which is set to debut 10 episodes in 2016 and 12 the following year. It will become a Netflix original, licenses globally and available in all Netflix territories.
Love follows Gus (Paul Rust) and Mickey (Gillian Jacobs), as they navigate their relationship and whatever this includes. The half-hour comedy series is produced by Legendary Television, and created by Apatow. According to Netflix’ Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandors, Apatow has a unique comic voice that can be both delightful, insightful and shockingly at the same time.
Apatow is excited to get to work with Paul and the others, and states that Netflix has been supportive in ways she couldn’t imagine. Bruce Rosenblum, President of Television at Legendary Televisions is also exited to partner with the Netflix team, and look forward to working with Apatow on this innovative and funny series.
