Netflix steps back in time when it releases Dinotrux in the spring of 2015. This all action original series takes place in a prehistoric world and features hybrid dinosaur construction characters who will be battling it out over 3 seasons.
The story line is based on Chris Galls award winning series. The first in the series was named as the Children’s book of the year for 2009 by Publishers Weekly.
The series, another from DreamWorks Animation, is set in a fantasy world dominated by larger than life creatures such as Tyrannosaurus Trux, Scraptors and Tow-a-constrictors.
The two main characters in the series are best friends Ty, a T-Trux and Revvit, a Reptool. Together they manage to build a world populated by Dinotrux and Reptools, each with a unique personality and attributes which they must combine in their endeavours to defeat the mechanical nightmare, D-Strux.
With lots of action and comedy the friendship of the biggest guy with the smallest creature is, as DreamWorks Margie Cohn puts it – “a theme that we think will resonate with kids.”
Cohn goes on to say that “Netflix continues to be an incredible partner and we’re excited to work with them once again to get this completely original series into the homes of families around the globe.”
Netflix’s VP Originals Content Cindy Holland collaborates this thinking saying “DreamWorks has a proven track record of creating beloved characters and we’re excited to be able to bring the Dinotrux friends to our members. We know kids and families love discovering new series to watch together and we’re pleased to continue to expand our show line-up from DreamWorks.”
Other DreamWorks Animation contributions to the Netflix original kids series includes Turbo Fast (2013), King Julien and VeggieTales in the House (2014) and DreamWorks Dragons which is also due for release in 2015.
